Learning to Wait

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

At many times in our lives we may find ourselves becoming anxious. We live in such a fast paced society that we’ve quickly become conditioned to having things done in record time. In this digital social age, we can quickly feel pressured by the success of others, to the point where we start wanting things we don’t even need. A quick scroll through a Facebook or Instagram feed can have our minds going in all kinds of directions, as we start on a journey of comparison that eventually leads to discontentment and sad to say ungratefulness. We slowly lose gratitude for the things that we do have and we find ourselves unhappy with the gifts and blessings that we’ve been given. Often times, it causes us to make moves ahead of God’s schedule and perfect timing. We don’t see God working fast enough in our lives so we put ourselves in the driver’s seat and in turn, push Him to the passenger side.

If you ever find yourself in a position like this, remember this:

God’s Timing Is Perfect

We must remember that God’s timing is perfect. He has been there from the beginning and He’s been to the end. He knows, in advance, what each of our days will hold and thus He knows the best move we should make and the best timing we should make that move. Trust in who God is and trust that His timing, though it may differ from your desired timing, will ultimately be the best timing for you.

Everyone’s Life Is Different

It’s easy to confuse the fact that everyone is at different points in their life at the same time as you. We may look at Sue who may be around the same age and wonder why she seems to have more money, more children, seem more happy etc. Remember, we are all walking our own paths and travelling down our own roads. You have no idea what Sue had to go through, sacrifice, give up or endure to get where she is. Equally, you have no idea of the blessings that God has in store just for you! Take your eyes off of everyone else’s situation and place your eyes above to Christ, who gives you everything you need to live a good life.

God Is Able & He Is With You!

You are never alone. God hears you every time you call, cry, pray and spend time with him. It is not by our strength and efforts alone that we obtain wealth, success, happiness or love. God is a very present help in times of trouble. Know that He wants us to be happy, to prosper and to enjoy life. Everything is a process and God knows your specific process and purpose better than anyone else. He will only put things on you that you can bear and that are good for you (even when you cannot understand). Trust in the God that you serve and in the power of His might.
