Key Scripture Acts 4:31 They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. Devotional Acts 4 gives us a striking picture of believers facing opposition. They did not pray primarily for easier circumstances. They prayed for boldness, and after they prayed, they were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the Word of God boldly. That challenges the way we sometimes pray. We often ask God to remove whatever makes us uncomfortable. Sometimes He …

Key Scripture 1 Peter 4:10 Use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace. Devotional Peter says each believer should use whatever gift she has received to serve others as a faithful steward of God’s grace. Your gift is not only about personal fulfillment. It belongs to the larger work God is doing through His people. This means hiding can become a stewardship issue. Humility is not pretending you have nothing to offer. True …

Key Scripture 1 Corinthians 13:1–2 If I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. Devotional First Corinthians 12 teaches about spiritual gifts, but Paul does not stop there. He moves directly into a chapter about love. That placement matters. Gifts without love become noise. Knowledge without love becomes pride. Faith without love can become performance. The Holy Spirit does not empower us to become impressive but unkind. If our spirituality makes us …

Key Scripture Acts 1:8 You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses. Devotional Spiritual power has a purpose. Jesus said the disciples would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them, and that power would enable them to be His witnesses. The Spirit’s power is not given so we can appear impressive. It equips ordinary believers to carry out extraordinary obedience. Sometimes we want power without mission. We want to …

Key Scripture 2 Timothy 1:6–7 Fan into flame the gift of God… for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power, love and self-control. Devotional Paul told Timothy to fan into flame the gift of God within him. That tells us gifts can be present but neglected. Fear, disappointment, comparison, criticism, or a long inactive season can cause us to shrink back from what God has entrusted to us. Paul immediately connects the gift with courage: God …

Key Scripture Isaiah 54:13 All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace. Devotional One of the most powerful ways we can steward influence is through prayer. When it comes to our children, it is easy to pray mainly about behavior, grades, friendships, safety, or the things currently worrying us. Those prayers matter, but we can also pray beyond the immediate problem and ask God to shape who they are becoming. Isaiah speaks of …

Key Scripture 1 Corinthians 12:4–7 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. Devotional There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. That truth immediately removes competition from spiritual gifts. We are not meant to compare who appears more powerful, visible, eloquent, or impressive. The Spirit distributes gifts for the good of the body, not the elevation of the individual. Some women spend so much time wishing they had someone else’s gift that they …

Key Scripture Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Devotional The more Scripture you know, the easier it becomes to recognize when something does not sound like God. The Holy Spirit inspired the Word, so He will never lead you contrary to it. Scripture becomes a vocabulary of truth stored in your heart that the Spirit can bring to mind exactly when you need it. This is why Bible reading is not …

Key Scripture Habakkuk 2:2 Write down the revelation and make it plain. Devotional One simple way to become more attentive to God is to write. Journaling does not make our thoughts divine, but it slows us down enough to notice patterns. A Scripture that keeps returning, a burden to pray for someone, a conviction we keep avoiding, or a direction that becomes clearer over time can easily be forgotten when life moves quickly. Writing also helps us test what we …

Key Scripture Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. Devotional We often pray for peace when making decisions, and Scripture does teach us to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts. But biblical peace does not always mean the absence of nervousness. You can feel butterflies and still be obeying God. You can grieve a decision and still know it is right. Peace is deeper than emotional comfort. Sometimes following the Holy Spirit leads …
