Becoming A Woman Of Prayer

God is calling us to be powerful women of prayer. We can go to conferences, read books, watch shows, listen to pastors, go to church and sit in the audience and learn about prayer all day long but God is now calling us to action. Anyone can pray for you and stand in the gap for you but true power will be released when you begin to open your own mouth and pray for yourself and release blessings over your household and tear down strongholds over your life and over your family.

You have been given authority to chase demons away and to cover yourself, your husband and your kids. The enemy has somehow convinced us that we need a higher level of petition or position for our requests to be made known and he’s unfortunately gotten us to a place of comfortable silence, where we would rather be prayed for rather than being the ones to pray. Now don’t get me wrong, seeking prayer from others is not a bad thing and I am not saying that we should not seek out prayer because the Bible does say for us to pray ye one for another & in James 5:16 it says, “therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” What I am saying though, is that when we can realize the power of our words and the authority that we have within us, then praying will seem less as a chore or something daunting, scary and mystical and more as something necessary, second nature and exciting to do.

We should wake up every morning excited to pray because we are setting up our day for success. We are releasing assignments for the angels to protect us and our families and we are placing God in the driver’s seat of our day. I can tell you from experience the difference in my day when I pray and make declarations vs. when I roll out of bed and get straight to work. It makes a difference. When I spend time in prayer in the morning, I feel refreshed and ready to take on the day; things seem more organized and I get more accomplished. It’s not a big mystery but it’s literally the words that I have spoken and released that are going forth and working to make my day better.

So today I want to encourage all of you to not be afraid of prayer, to make time for prayer, and to take every opportunity you can to send up a prayer. There are many different ways to pray and it’s all throughout the Bible.1 Samuel 1:13 Hannah prayed in her heart, Jesus took time out to go by himself to pray and in it says in Matthew 6:6, “But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” There’s a time for everything and sometimes it may be a call for you to find a secret place in your house and bow on your knees in prayer, other times you may be driving in your car and you’re led to pray as you go on your merry way and other times, like Hannah, you may find yourself in a situation where you need to speak to God & you can’t speak out loud, but your lips can move in silence.

God hears our prayers and He just wants us to spend time with Him in prayer. Remember that it’s a relationship that God wants and requires, not religion. It’s a relationship and every relationship is built on love, trust and communication.

Prayer is the communication aspect of our relationship with God. Communication is a 2 way street and sometimes we miss this. Prayer is a 2 way conversation between you and God. When we’re communicating with our husbands, there are times we want to just vent and we just need our husband’s attention; he doesn’t have to say anything but once we have his ear we’re good. But the majority of times we expect a response from our spouse. In the same way, yes there are times we are speaking and we just want God’s attention, but the majority of times, He wants to respond. So be sure when you’re praying, that you’re actually giving Him time to respond to you and answer the questions that plague your mind. Finally, and most importantly, when you pray, truly believe that it has already been done. Just trust Him to follow His word! He will never lead you astray.
