Scripture “And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.” – Luke 5:6 Devotional Peter’s obedience made room for a miracle. After he let down the net at the word of Jesus, the empty place became full. The same waters that seemed unproductive all night became the place of overflow when Jesus spoke and Peter obeyed. There is something powerful about a surrendered yes. We do not obey God only to get …
Scripture “Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.” – Luke 5:5 Devotional One of the hardest parts of faith is obeying before we understand. We want understanding first. We want God to explain the why, the when, the how, and the what if. But there are moments when God asks for obedience before explanation. Peter did not understand how lowering the net again would change anything. …
Scripture “By faith Abraham… obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.” – Hebrews 11:8 Devotional Control can feel safe, but it can also become a prison. Many of us learned to control because we were trying to protect ourselves. We control the details, the schedule, the conversations, the emotions, the outcomes, and sometimes even the people around us. But faith calls us into something better than control. Faith calls us into trust. Abraham obeyed God without knowing …
Scripture “Nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.” – Luke 5:5 Devotional Peter had been fishing all night and caught nothing. He was tired. He was experienced. He knew the water. From a natural perspective, it probably did not make sense to try again. But when Jesus told him to let down the nets, Peter responded, “Nevertheless at thy word.” In everyday language, he was saying, “Because You say so, Lord.” That is a powerful picture of …
Scripture “By faith Abraham… obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.” – Hebrews 11:8 Devotional Abraham obeyed God without having the full map. That is a challenging kind of faith. Many of us prefer to obey after we understand everything. We want the timeline, the strategy, the confirmation, the backup plan, and the outcome. But often, God gives us the next step before He gives us the whole road. This can feel uncomfortable, especially for women who …
Scripture “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” – James 2:17 Devotional Surrender is one of the clearest ways our faith becomes visible. We can say we trust God, but surrender asks the deeper question: do we trust Him enough to release what we keep trying to control? Many of us are carrying things God never asked us to carry. We are carrying outcomes, timelines, people’s choices, fears about the future, and pressure to make …
Scripture “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” – James 2:17 Devotional Faith is not only something we say. Faith is something that responds. James teaches us that faith without works is dead, which means true faith will eventually show up in how we live, how we obey, how we speak, how we forgive, how we serve, and how we surrender. This does not mean we earn God’s love by our works. We are saved …
Scripture “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1 Devotional A strong house needs a strong foundation. The same is true of our faith. If our faith is built only on answered prayers, good days, people behaving well, or circumstances going our way, then we will be easily shaken when life gets hard. Biblical faith has a deeper foundation. It is built on who God is. It is built on …
Scripture “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:17 Devotional What we feed will grow. If we feed fear, fear grows. If we feed bitterness, bitterness grows. If we feed discouragement, discouragement grows. But when we feed faith with the Word of God, faith begins to rise. This is not just a nice saying. It is a spiritual reality. Many of us are trying to have strong faith while constantly consuming things …
Scripture “Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart… he shall have whatsoever he saith.” – Mark 11:23 Devotional Sometimes the mountain looks so big that it takes over our thoughts. We wake up thinking about it. We go to sleep thinking about it. We talk about it, worry about it, plan around it, and sometimes even start living as if it will always be …
