Counting Every Blessing

Key Scripture: James 1:17 (KJV)

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights…

Devotional

Counting blessings is not ignoring hardship; it is refusing to let hardship be the only story you tell. God has been giving gifts all year—some obvious, some quiet, some disguised as growth.

When you name blessings, your heart becomes more sensitive to God’s presence. Gratitude builds spiritual awareness—it helps you notice God’s care in the details.

Blessings include provision, protection, relationships, wisdom, growth, and even doors that closed to keep you safe. God’s generosity is often woven into daily life.

Today, slow down and count. You may be surprised by how much goodness has been surrounding you.

Scripture Insight

James 1:17 reminds us that God is the source of every good gift. Gratitude keeps the Giver at the center of the gift.

Heart Check

What blessing have you minimized because it felt ‘small’—and what happens if you honor it as a gift from God?

Practice Today

  • Make a list of 12 blessings (one for each month).
  • Thank God for one blessing you didn’t ask for but needed.
  • Text someone a thank-you for how they blessed you this year.
  • End the day by reading your list out loud as worship.

Reflection: How does gratitude reshape your view of God and your year?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for every good and perfect gift. Open my eyes to see Your generosity in my life. Teach me to honor the small blessings and trust You for what I still need. I praise You as my faithful Father. Amen.
