Key Scripture: Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Devotional
Some weight isn’t visible—but it’s heavy. Expectations, responsibilities, disappointments, and silent pressure can pile up until you feel exhausted. Jesus offers something your own strength cannot: rest for your soul.
Releasing the weight is not quitting; it’s trusting. It’s letting Jesus carry what you were never meant to hold alone. He doesn’t scold the weary—He invites them.
Rest isn’t lazy; it’s holy. It’s saying, “God, I trust You to sustain what I cannot control.” When you release the weight, you make room for peace, clarity, and renewed strength.
Today, bring the heaviness to Jesus. Not later. Not when you’ve fixed it. Come as you are and receive rest.
Scripture Insight
Matthew 11:28 shows Jesus as the refuge for the weary. Rest is a promise to those who come, not those who prove.
Heart Check
What burden are you carrying that Jesus is asking you to hand over?
Practice Today
- List 3 things weighing on you and pray each one: “Jesus, I give this to You.”
- Take one ‘no’ today to protect your peace.
- Schedule a small rest practice (walk, nap, quiet time, early bedtime).
- End the day by thanking Jesus for being your refuge.
Reflection: What would change in your body and mind if you truly received Jesus’ rest?
Prayer: Jesus, I come to You with the weight I’ve been carrying. Teach me to release what I cannot control and to trust Your care. Give my soul rest and my heart peace. Renew my strength as I abide with You. Amen.
