Restoring What Was Lost

Key Scripture: Joel 2:25 (KJV)

And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten…

Devotional

Restoration is God’s specialty. Some losses cannot be replaced by human effort—time, opportunities, relationships, seasons that felt stolen. But God has a way of redeeming what felt wasted.

Restoration doesn’t always look like getting the exact thing back. Sometimes God restores by giving you strength, wisdom, peace, and new opportunities that carry greater purpose.

If this year held loss, God is not asking you to pretend it didn’t hurt. He is inviting you to trust Him with restoration—His way, His timing, His goodness.

Today, ask God to restore. Let hope rise again. Your story is still being written.

Scripture Insight

Joel 2:25 shows God’s promise to repay and redeem loss. Restoration is part of His character, not a rare exception.

Heart Check

What have you felt you ‘lost’ this year—and have you allowed yourself to hope for God’s restoration?

Practice Today

  • Name one loss and bring it to God honestly.
  • Pray for restoration in God’s way and timing.
  • Ask God to show you one redeeming gift from that season (wisdom, boundaries, clarity).
  • Take one hopeful step forward (apply, reach out, restart, forgive, rebuild).

Reflection: How might your faith grow if you trusted God to restore what you cannot recover on your own?

Prayer: Lord, I bring You what I feel I lost. Restore what has been eaten away—my joy, my strength, my hope, my time, my peace. Redeem my story and rebuild what was broken. I trust You to restore in Your perfect way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
