“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience…” – Hebrews 10:35-36

Devotional

Hebrews tells us not to throw away our confidence. That means confidence can be thrown away. Not always all at once, but little by little. Through disappointment. Through delay. Through fear. Through comparison. Through weariness. Through listening to the wrong voices.

Sometimes we start strong in faith, but the waiting wears us down. We begin to question what God said. We start shrinking back. We stop praying with expectation. We stop taking steps. We stop believing that the promise is still possible.

Sister, do not throw away your confidence.

Your confidence is not in your ability to make it happen. Your confidence is in the faithfulness of God. If He spoke, He knows how to fulfill. If He called you, He knows how to equip you. If He began a work in you, He knows how to complete it.

Hebrews also says we have need of patience. That is not always what we want to hear, but it is what we need. Faith and patience work together. Faith believes God. Patience keeps standing until the promise is fulfilled. Faith says, “God is able.” Patience says, “I will not quit while I wait.”

Maybe you are in the space between promise and fulfillment. That space can feel long. But do not abandon your confidence there. Keep praying. Keep obeying. Keep serving. Keep healing. Keep growing. Keep walking.

The enemy would love for delay to make you drop what God placed in your heart. But today, pick your confidence back up. Not confidence in timing. Not confidence in people. Not confidence in perfect circumstances. Confidence in God.

He is still faithful.

Prayer

Father, help me not to throw away my confidence. Strengthen me with patience while I wait. Keep my heart anchored in Your faithfulness and help me continue walking by faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
