Learning to Listen to God

Key Scripture: John 10:27 (NIV)

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

Devotional

Listening is essential in every healthy relationship. Jesus reminds us that His followers recognize His voice. Relationship with God is not one-sided—He speaks, guides, and reassures His children.

Listening requires intentional stillness. In a world full of noise, it’s easy to rush through prayer without leaving space to hear from God. Relationship deepens when we pause long enough to listen.

God speaks in many ways—through Scripture, peace, conviction, and gentle nudges. Learning to listen is a process that develops with time and trust.

Today, make room for listening. God desires to communicate with you personally.

Scripture Insight

God’s voice becomes familiar as we remain close to Him.

Heart Check

Do you leave space in prayer to listen—or only to speak?

Practice Today

  • Spend five minutes in silence after prayer.
  • Ask God one simple question and listen.
  • Write down impressions or Scriptures that come to mind.
  • Thank God for speaking to you.

Reflection: How might listening change the way you experience prayer?

Prayer: Lord, help me recognize Your voice. Quiet the distractions around me and within me. Teach me to listen with trust and obedience. Amen.
