Key Scripture: Psalm 34:1 (NIV)
I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
Devotional
When we hear the word breakthrough, most of us immediately think about circumstances changing.
We think about prayers being answered, doors opening, relationships being restored, or long-awaited miracles finally arriving. And certainly God does work in those ways.
But sometimes the first breakthrough God brings is not around us. It’s within us.
Have you ever gone into prayer feeling anxious and walked away with peace even though the situation hadn’t changed?
Or maybe you’ve come into worship carrying a heavy burden and somehow left feeling lighter, even though the answer still hadn’t arrived.
That’s because God’s presence often begins transforming our hearts before He transforms our circumstances.
One of the beautiful things about worship is that it positions us to receive what God wants to do in our lives. It softens our hearts, strengthens our faith, and reminds us where our hope truly comes from.
I’ve noticed that when we’re focused entirely on getting a breakthrough, it’s easy to become discouraged if things don’t happen quickly. But when we’re focused on God, worship keeps us grounded while we wait.
Sometimes breakthrough looks like restored peace.
Sometimes it looks like renewed hope.
Sometimes it looks like courage to take the next step.
And yes, sometimes it looks like the answer we’ve been praying for.
Whatever form it takes, breakthrough begins with trusting that God is working even when we can’t see it.
Worship helps us hold onto that truth.
Heart Check
Are you more focused on the breakthrough you’re seeking or the God you’re seeking?
