The Example of Jesus

Key Scripture: Mark 10:45

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Devotional

Jesus is the ultimate model of faithful service. Though King of kings, He lived among us as a servant-healing the sick, feeding the hungry, teaching the lost, and laying down His life. His path reveals that greatness in God’s kingdom flows through humility and sacrifice.

Following Jesus means embracing His posture toward people: compassion for the broken, grace for the undeserving, and presence with the lonely. Service is not weakness; it is love wielded with holy strength.

Serving like Jesus will cost us comfort, convenience, and sometimes reputation. But in losing our lives for His sake, we find fuller life than we imagined.

Ask the Spirit to help you see one person today the way Jesus would-and to respond the way Jesus did.

Scripture Insight

Mark 10:45 anchors today’s theme, showing how the example of jesus flows from God’s heart and shapes our daily obedience. Read the verse slowly, notice key verbs and promises, and ask how this truth reframes your next act of service.

Heart Check

Where might pride, hurry, or self‑protection be dulling the example of jesus in my life? What one attitude needs to shift so my service looks more like Jesus today?

Practice Today

  • Pray a one‑sentence surrender: “Jesus, lead me in the example of jesus today.”
  • Identify one person to serve and one concrete way to bless them.
  • Replace one complaint with thanksgiving as you serve.
  • Take a 3‑minute pause midday to realign your heart with God’s presence.

Reflection: What would the example of jesus look like in one relationship or task on my calendar today?

Prayer: Father, thank You for inviting me into Your work. Form the example of jesus in me. Purify my motives, strengthen my hands, and let my service reveal Jesus. Amen.
