Pray Over What God Entrusted to You

Key Scripture

Isaiah 54:13

All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.

Devotional

One of the most powerful ways we can steward influence is through prayer. When it comes to our children, it is easy to pray mainly about behavior, grades, friendships, safety, or the things currently worrying us. Those prayers matter, but we can also pray beyond the immediate problem and ask God to shape who they are becoming.

Isaiah speaks of children being taught by the Lord and experiencing great peace. What a prayer to carry over a child’s life. We can ask the Holy Spirit to draw them toward truth, give them discernment, guard their hearts, develop their gifts, and help them recognize the voice of God for themselves.

Parenting can tempt us toward control because we love deeply and cannot guarantee outcomes. Prayer reminds us that our children ultimately belong to God. We guide, teach, correct, protect, and love them, but we cannot be their Holy Spirit. We must leave room for God to work personally in them.

As you complete Day 2 of *Prayers Over My Children*, pray with faith rather than fear. Let your prayers become less about predicting every possible danger and more about trusting the God who sees what you cannot.

Prayer loosens our grip on control. As you pray over your children, trust that the same Spirit who leads you is able to reach, teach, and guide them too.

Heart Check

When you pray for your children or those you influence, are your prayers mostly fear-driven or faith-filled?

Prayer

Father, I place my children and the next generation in Your hands. Holy Spirit, teach them, lead them, protect them, and draw them toward truth. Give me wisdom to parent without trying to control what only You can transform. In Jesus’ name, amen.
