Isaiah paints a beautiful picture: “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” God’s desire to guide His people is a recurring theme throughout Scripture.
Guidance is often more about the next step than the entire map. We want five-year clarity; God may give today’s obedience. We want certainty about every consequence; He asks us to trust His character.
This can feel frustrating for women who like to plan, organize, and know what comes next. Planning is wise, but plans make poor masters. Following the Spirit requires enough flexibility to let God interrupt our calendar.
Hold your plans with open hands. God may affirm them, adjust them, delay them, or replace them. The safest place is not the plan that feels most predictable. It is the path where you are walking with Him.

Do you need God’s guidance, or do you mainly want God’s approval of a plan you have already decided on?
Practice Today
- Present one important plan to God with genuine openness to change.
- Write the phrase, “This is the way; walk in it,” somewhere you will see it.
- Focus on today’s obedient step instead of demanding the full map.
Prayer
Father, guide me. Holy Spirit, make me flexible enough to follow even when You interrupt my plans. Give me grace for the next step and trust for everything I cannot yet see. Amen.
