Key Scripture
1 John 1:9 (KJV)
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Devotional
Shame often tells us to hide after we have made a wrong choice. We may avoid prayer, withdraw from people who care, or spend our energy trying to appear stronger than we feel.
John points believers toward confession and God’s faithfulness to forgive and cleanse. We can come honestly before the Father because His mercy gives us reason to stop protecting what needs to change.
Confession includes agreeing with God about sin rather than minimizing it. We can name what happened, ask for forgiveness, and take responsibility for any repair that is needed in our relationships or conduct.
Sister, you may also need support from a trustworthy, mature believer. Choose someone who handles your vulnerability with care and will help you pursue obedience. Healthy accountability should encourage truth, wise boundaries, and real change.
During International Prayer Week today, bring before the Lord anything you have kept hidden from Him in your conversations, even though He already knows. Receive His mercy and choose a truthful next step. You can return to Him without waiting to make yourself presentable.
