Not by Bread Alone

Key Scripture: Matthew 4:4 (NIV)

Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Devotional

Jesus answered temptation with Scripture because He understood something vital: our souls cannot live on natural provision alone. We need the Word of God just as desperately as we need food, water, and air.

It is possible to be physically full and spiritually starving. Many people feed their schedules, cravings, and ambitions while neglecting the nourishment of truth. But real life flows from God’s voice.

When the Word becomes your daily bread, your inner life becomes stronger. You gain discernment, endurance, and a steadier response to pressure. God’s Word feeds what the world cannot satisfy.

Today, don’t treat Scripture like an occasional snack. Receive it as your daily nourishment.

Prayer

Lord, teach me to hunger for Your Word. Feed my spirit with truth and help me depend on Your voice more than my own understanding. Strengthen me from the inside out as I receive what You speak. Amen.
