Key Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
Devotional
One of the most difficult parts of following God is learning to trust Him when we don’t understand what He’s doing.
Most of us are comfortable trusting God when things make sense. When prayers are being answered, doors are opening, and life seems to be moving in the direction we hoped, it’s easy to see His hand at work. But there are other seasons that feel much different. Seasons where we pray and hear silence. Seasons where the answer is delayed. Seasons where the road ahead seems unclear and we find ourselves asking, “Lord, what are You doing?”
I think every believer encounters those moments eventually.
The challenge is that our minds naturally want explanations. We want God to show us the entire plan before we take the next step. We want reassurance that everything will work out exactly the way we hope. But faith rarely works that way.
Trust is often built in the spaces where understanding is missing.
As I think about worship, I’ve realized that every time we choose to worship during an uncertain season, we’re making a declaration. We’re saying, “God, I don’t have all the answers, but I know Your character. I know You are good. I know You are faithful. I know You can see what I cannot.”
That’s what makes worship such a powerful expression of trust.
It’s easy to worship when we can clearly see the outcome. It’s much harder to worship when we’re still waiting for direction, healing, restoration, or breakthrough. Yet those are often the moments when worship becomes most meaningful because it flows from faith rather than sight.
Maybe you’re walking through a season right now that doesn’t make sense. Perhaps there are questions you wish God would answer or circumstances you wish would change. If so, know that you’re not alone. Many of the men and women we admire in Scripture walked through similar seasons.
What carried them wasn’t complete understanding.
It was confidence in the One they were following.
As you worship, allow your heart to rest in that truth. God does not ask you to understand everything. He simply asks you to trust Him one step at a time.
