Faith Has a Foundation

Scripture

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1

Devotional

A strong house needs a strong foundation. The same is true of our faith. If our faith is built only on answered prayers, good days, people behaving well, or circumstances going our way, then we will be easily shaken when life gets hard.

Biblical faith has a deeper foundation. It is built on who God is. It is built on the truth of His Word. It is built on His faithfulness through every generation. It is built on the finished work of Jesus, not the shifting condition of our lives.

This matters because life will shake us sometimes. Marriage can shake us. Parenting can shake us. Financial pressure can shake us. Waiting can shake us. Disappointment can shake us. But when our faith is rooted in God, we may feel the shaking, yet we do not have to collapse.

Sister, having faith does not mean you never have questions. It means your questions have a safe place to land. It means you bring your confusion to God instead of running away from Him. It means you may not understand what He is doing, but you trust that He is still good, still wise, still present, and still faithful.

As we close this first week, take a moment to examine the foundation. Is your faith rooted in God’s Word or in your desired outcome? Is it rooted in His character or in your timeline? Is it rooted in truth or in what you feel today?

God is not offended by your need for strengthening. Ask Him to rebuild what feels weak. Ask Him to deepen your roots. Ask Him to help your faith become steady, not because life is perfect, but because He is unchanging.

Mountains may move, storms may come, and seasons may shift, but a faith built on God can stand.

Prayer

Father, strengthen the foundation of my faith. Root me deeply in Your Word and Your character. When life shakes me, hold me steady. Help me trust You more than I trust what I can see or control. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection

What part of your faith foundation needs strengthening right now?
