There is something beautifully reassuring about knowing that Jesus never intended for us to walk this Christian life alone.
We weren’t left to figure everything out ourselves. We weren’t expected to navigate every decision with our own wisdom, overcome every battle in our own strength, or fulfill God’s purpose for our lives through sheer determination.
Jesus promised us a Helper. The Holy Spirit. And sisters, this month, I want us to know Him more.
Sometimes we can talk about the Holy Spirit as though He is simply a feeling we experience during worship or a moment when we sense God’s presence strongly. But the Holy Spirit is not merely a feeling, an atmosphere, or a spiritual experience. He is God. He is present. He speaks. He teaches. He comforts. He convicts. He empowers. He leads.
And He lives within the believer. That changes everything.
Our lives can become so noisy. Notifications. Responsibilities. Work. Children. Marriage. Ministry. Opinions. Social media. Our own thoughts. Our own fears. Our own plans. And sometimes God’s voice isn’t absent — there are simply too many other voices competing for our attention.
That is part of why we are beginning September with three days of fasting and prayer. From September 1–3, we are setting aside food for a water-only fast and coming together in prayer at 5 AM EST each morning with one central desire: Holy Spirit, help us hear You.
What To Expect This Month
Throughout September, we are going deeper in our relationship with the Holy Spirit.
We’ll learn who He is and understand His role in our lives. We’ll talk about recognizing His voice and discerning His leading. We’ll explore spiritual gifts and the power He gives believers to accomplish God’s purposes. We’ll challenge ourselves to surrender control and actually follow when He leads.
- From September 1–3, we’ll begin with our 3-Day Water-Only Fast: Hearing From the Holy Spirit, gathering for prayer at 5 AM EST each morning.
- Our Monday Morning Prayer continues every Monday at 7 AM EST as we seek God together as a community.
- And September 15–17, we’ll release our newest Bible App Plan, Prayers Over My Children, giving us three intentional days to cover the children God has entrusted to us in prayer.
Prayer For The Month
Father, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit, we welcome You into every area of our lives. Forgive us for the times we have ignored Your prompting, depended upon our own understanding, or allowed the noise around us to become louder than Your voice within us. Teach us to recognize Your voice.
Quiet every distraction that keeps us from hearing You clearly. Give us discernment to recognize what is from You and wisdom to reject what is not.
Reveal the gifts You have placed within us and teach us to use them humbly and boldly for Your glory. Fill us again. Strengthen us where we are weak. Refresh us where we are weary. Convict us where we have compromised. Comfort us where we are hurting.
And when You lead us, give us the courage to follow. We surrender our plans, our expectations, our timing, and our need for control. Order our steps and make us sensitive to Your presence throughout our everyday lives. May the evidence of Your presence be seen not only in what You do through us, but in who we are becoming.
Holy Spirit, speak. Holy Spirit, lead. Holy Spirit, fill us. Holy Spirit, have Your way.
