Key Scripture
Psalm 95:6 (NIV)
“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”
Devotional
Have you ever noticed how naturally people worship?
Some people devote themselves to careers. Others devote themselves to hobbies, relationships, success, possessions, or personal goals. We were all created with a desire to give our attention, affection, and devotion to something greater than ourselves.
The truth is that worship isn’t something we learn. Worship is something we were created for.
From the very beginning, God’s desire was relationship with His people. In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve walked with God and enjoyed His presence. Worship was not a scheduled activity. It was simply the natural response of living in close relationship with their Creator.
Even today, God invites us into that same relationship.
Sometimes we think worship begins when the music starts on Sunday morning, but worship begins long before that. Worship begins when we recognize who God is. It begins when we pause long enough to acknowledge His goodness, His faithfulness, His mercy, and His love.
The more we understand God’s character, the more naturally worship flows from our hearts.
Worship is not about giving God something He lacks. God does not need our songs, prayers, or praise to complete Him. Worship changes us. It reminds us who God is and where our help comes from. It shifts our focus away from ourselves and back onto the One who created us.
This month, as we explore the power of worship, remember that worship is not reserved for special moments. It is an invitation into deeper relationship with God every single day.
