Let Love Lead Your Gift

Key Scripture

1 Corinthians 13:2 (KJV)

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

Devotional

It is possible to do something well and still wound the people around us. A gift may draw attention, but the way we treat others reveals whether love is shaping our service.

After teaching about spiritual gifts, Paul describes the necessity of love. Even impressive knowledge and extraordinary faith cannot replace a heart that cares for people with patience, kindness, and humility.

We need this reminder when we become frustrated with someone who is learning slowly or when we begin treating people as obstacles to the assignment. The people themselves are part of the responsibility God has entrusted to us.

Sister, ask God to examine both your ability and your attitude. Are you listening? Are you willing to be corrected? Can someone receive help from you without feeling small, embarrassed, or indebted to you?

As we close our focus on gifts, let love become the measure of how we use them. The goal is to strengthen others and honor Christ. A gift offered with humility and compassion can leave people encouraged long after the moment of service ends.

Heart Check

Is the way I use my gift reflecting the love of Christ?

Practice Today

  1. Read 1 Corinthians 13:4–7.
  2. Notice one attitude that needs God’s correction.
  3. Use your gift today in a way that shows patience and kindness.

Prayer

Father, let Your love shape every gift I use. Correct pride, impatience, and the desire to be admired. Help me serve people with humility and compassion so that my contribution points them toward Jesus. In Jesus’ name, amen.
