Key Scripture
Matthew 6:3–4 (KJV)
But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: that thine alms may be in secret:
Devotional
Have you ever helped someone and then felt disappointed when she did not acknowledge it the way you hoped? That moment can reveal how easily generosity becomes mixed with an expectation of recognition or repayment.
Jesus teaches His followers to give without making their generosity a performance. The Father sees what is offered quietly, and His attention frees us from making people’s applause the purpose of our help.
We still need wisdom about whom we support and how we use our resources. Quiet generosity can include appropriate accountability. But the person receiving help should not have to carry the weight of protecting our reputation or satisfying our pride.
Sister, when you give, consider the dignity of the person before you. Ask permission before sharing her story, and resist turning her need into a way to display your goodness.
Let your offering be something you can release with love. You may never know every outcome, and you may never receive a public thank-you. Yet you can trust God to see the heart behind your generosity and continue shaping it.
