Key Scripture
Psalm 90:12 (KJV)
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Devotional
There is something humbling about realizing that our days are valuable because they are limited. We cannot keep putting everything meaningful into a future season and assume that season will arrive exactly as we imagined.
In Psalm 90, Moses asks God to teach His people to number their days. That prayer invites us to live with wisdom, aware of our dependence on the Lord and the importance of the opportunities He gives us.
We often say we will reconnect with someone, begin that assignment, or spend more time in prayer when life slows down. But life has a way of presenting another responsibility as soon as one is finished.
Sister, this is an invitation to pay attention without living in fear. The conversation with your child, the apology you owe, and the time you spend with God deserve more than whatever happens to remain at the end of your day.
Ask yourself what you would regret continually postponing. Let that answer help you make one wise choice today, trusting God with the days ahead while being faithful in the day you have.
Heart Check
What meaningful thing have I repeatedly postponed while waiting for a quieter season?
Practice Today
- Name one relationship or assignment that needs your attention.
- Choose a realistic time to give it attention this week.
- Thank God for one ordinary moment you might otherwise overlook.
Prayer
Lord, teach me to number my days with a heart of wisdom. Help me stop assuming that everything important can wait. Show me how to love well, obey promptly, and appreciate the life You have placed before me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
