Scripture
“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth…” – 1 Peter 1:7
Devotional
Sometimes when we are in a hard season, we start wondering if God is displeased with us or if we have been rejected. The fire can make us feel abandoned. The testing can make us question our worth. The delay can make us wonder if God has moved on.
But sister, being refined is not the same as being rejected.
A refiner does not put gold in the fire because it is worthless. He refines it because it is valuable. The fire reveals what is precious and removes what does not belong. In the same way, God may use hard seasons to purify our faith, deepen our dependence, heal hidden places, and strengthen what is weak.
You are not rejected because the season is difficult. You are not forgotten because the answer has not come yet. You are not disqualified because you have cried, struggled, or needed help. God is with you in the refining.
This truth matters because shame can make us run from God when we need Him most. The enemy will try to tell you that your struggle proves your faith is fake. But the presence of struggle does not mean the absence of faith. Sometimes faith looks like continuing to reach for God with trembling hands.
As this week closes, let God comfort and strengthen you. Ask Him what He is refining, but do not receive the lie that He has rejected you. The Father disciplines, develops, and strengthens His daughters because He loves them.
The fire is not the end of your story. God is producing something beautiful, steady, and genuine in you.
Stay close to Him. Let Him refine you. Let Him heal you. Let Him hold you.
You are refined, not rejected.
Prayer
Father, thank You that hard seasons do not mean You have rejected me. Help me receive Your refining with trust. Heal shame, strengthen my faith, and remind me that I am loved by You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Reflection
Where have you mistaken refining for rejection?
