The Blessing on the Other Side of Yes

Scripture

“And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.” – Luke 5:6

Devotional

Peter’s obedience made room for a miracle. After he let down the net at the word of Jesus, the empty place became full. The same waters that seemed unproductive all night became the place of overflow when Jesus spoke and Peter obeyed.

There is something powerful about a surrendered yes.

We do not obey God only to get something from Him. Our obedience is first an expression of love and trust. But Scripture shows us again and again that obedience positions us to experience God in deeper ways. There are blessings, lessons, growth, and breakthroughs we may never encounter while we are clinging to our own way.

Sometimes the yes God is asking for feels small. Say the prayer. Make the call. Start the devotional. Join the meeting. Apologize. Forgive. Rest. Fast. Give. Serve. Write it. Build it. Release it. Try again.

Other times the yes feels costly. Lay down pride. Surrender the timeline. Stop manipulating the outcome. Choose faith when fear feels easier. Keep honoring God when no one applauds.

Sister, God sees every yes. Even the quiet ones. Even the trembling ones. Even the ones whispered through tears. Your obedience is not wasted.

Peter could have missed the fullness because of fatigue. He could have said, “I already tried.” He could have let disappointment make the final decision. But he chose to trust the word of Jesus, and the result was more than he expected.

As we close this week, ask God where your next yes belongs. Not the yes that impresses people, but the yes that honors Him. The yes that aligns your heart. The yes that places your faith into motion.

There is grace for the yes God is asking from you. And there may be blessing, growth, and breakthrough waiting on the other side.

Prayer

Lord, give me a surrendered yes. Help me obey You with love, humility, and faith. Thank You that my obedience is not wasted. Lead me into the blessing, growth, and alignment that comes from following You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection

What yes do you need to give God this week?
