Scripture
“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth… might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.” – 1 Peter 1:6-7
Devotional
Faith that has never been tested can remain shallow. That does not mean God enjoys our pain or that every hard thing is easy to understand. But Scripture teaches us that trials can reveal and refine our faith in ways comfort never could.
Peter compares tested faith to gold refined by fire. Fire does not create the value of the gold. The gold was already valuable. The fire reveals it, purifies it, and removes what does not belong. In the same way, trials can bring things to the surface in us: fear, impatience, control, pride, unbelief, bitterness, or places where we have been relying more on ourselves than on God.
Sister, if you are in a testing season, it does not mean God has left you. It does not mean your faith is fake. It may mean God is strengthening, purifying, and deepening something in you.
Testing seasons are uncomfortable because they expose what is really in our hearts. We discover whether our peace is attached to outcomes. We discover whether our joy depends on circumstances. We discover whether our prayer life is built on convenience or dependence. We discover whether we trust God only when we understand Him.
But the exposure is not to shame us. It is to heal us. God reveals so He can restore. He refines so we can become more like Christ.
Maybe your faith is being tested through delay. Maybe through marriage struggles. Maybe through financial pressure. Maybe through disappointment. Maybe through a calling that feels heavier than expected. Whatever the fire is, bring your honest heart to God.
Do not run from Him because the season is hard. Run to Him. Ask Him what He is developing in you. Ask Him what He wants to remove. Ask Him for endurance.
Tested faith can become stronger faith. And with God, the fire does not get the final word.
Prayer
Father, strengthen me in this testing season. Refine my faith without letting me lose heart. Show me what You are healing, developing, and removing. Help me trust You in the fire. In Jesus’ name, amen.
