Scripture
“Have faith in God.” – Mark 11:22
Devotional
Sister, we are beginning this month with the words of Jesus: have faith in God. That sounds simple, but it is the foundation for everything else we will talk about this month. Before we speak to mountains, before we pray bold prayers, before we stand in the fire, and before we walk into promises, our faith has to be anchored in the right place.
Jesus did not say, “Have faith in yourself.” He did not say, “Have faith in your plan.” He did not even say, “Have faith that the situation will change exactly when you want it to.” He said, “Have faith in God.” That means our confidence is not in what we can control, what we can see, or what we can figure out. Our confidence is in the character, power, wisdom, and faithfulness of our Father.
Many of us are looking at real mountains. Marriage mountains, parenting mountains, financial mountains, emotional mountains, purpose mountains, and spiritual mountains. Faith does not pretend those mountains are not there. Faith simply refuses to believe that the mountain is greater than God.
So as we enter July, let this be the posture of your heart: Lord, I choose to trust You. I may not understand every detail. I may not see the full picture. I may not know how You are going to work it out. But I know who You are.
Mountain-moving faith begins with looking away from the mountain long enough to look at God again. Not because the mountain is small, but because He is greater.
Prayer
Father, help me place my faith in You above everything else. Teach me not to be ruled by fear, circumstances, or what I can see. Remind me that You are greater than every mountain before me. Strengthen my heart to trust You again. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Reflection
What mountain have you been staring at more than you have been looking at God?
