Devotional
Have you ever had one of those days where everything seems to go wrong?
You wake up already feeling behind. The to-do list feels overwhelming. Something unexpected happens, and before long, your mind is completely consumed with everything that isn’t working.
The truth is, most of us don’t have to try very hard to find something to worry about. Life gives us plenty of opportunities to focus on what is missing, what is broken, or what hasn’t happened yet.
That’s why gratitude is such a powerful act of worship.
Gratitude intentionally shifts our attention. Instead of focusing on what we lack, it reminds us of what God has already done. It causes us to pause and recognize His faithfulness in places we may have overlooked.
I imagine that’s one reason God instructed His people so often to remember. Remember how He delivered them. Remember how He provided for them. Remember how He protected them. Remember how He kept His promises.
Because when we forget God’s faithfulness, fear tends to fill the gap.
We start viewing our current challenge as if God has never helped us before. We act as though this problem is somehow bigger than every obstacle He has already brought us through.
But gratitude reminds us otherwise.
It reminds us of the prayers He answered.
The doors He opened.
The provision that came at just the right time.
The peace He gave when we thought we couldn’t make it another day.
The strength He supplied when our own strength ran out.
Sometimes worship doesn’t begin with a song. Sometimes it begins with simply saying, “Lord, thank You.”
Thank You for waking me up today.
Thank You for carrying me through yesterday.
Thank You for the things I can see and the things I cannot.
Thank You for being faithful even when I didn’t fully recognize it.
As we cultivate gratitude, we begin noticing God’s fingerprints all over our lives. And the more we recognize His faithfulness, the more naturally worship flows from our hearts.

When was the last time you intentionally reflected on how God has been faithful to you?

Prayer
Father, thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness. Forgive me for the times I become so focused on my needs that I overlook Your blessings. Open my eyes to see Your hand at work in my life and help me develop a grateful heart that continually worships You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
