Write It Down

Key Scripture

Habakkuk 2:2

Write down the revelation and make it plain.

Devotional

One simple way to become more attentive to God is to write. Journaling does not make our thoughts divine, but it slows us down enough to notice patterns. A Scripture that keeps returning, a burden to pray for someone, a conviction we keep avoiding, or a direction that becomes clearer over time can easily be forgotten when life moves quickly.

Writing also helps us test what we sensed later. Did it align with Scripture? Did godly counsel confirm it? Did it produce good fruit? Did our interpretation change as we matured? This keeps us humble. We are learning, not claiming infallibility.

Many women say, “I never hear God,” but when they look back, they remember repeated moments of conviction, comfort, wisdom, or prompting. The issue was not always silence; sometimes it was that we did not pay attention long enough to remember.

Give yourself permission to record what you are learning without needing to label everything as a prophecy. A simple sentence—“I sensed God highlighting this today”—leaves room for both faith and humility.

Writing helps you slow down enough to notice. Give yourself space to remember what God is highlighting instead of letting the moment disappear into another busy day.

Heart Check

What has God been repeatedly highlighting to you lately that you need to stop forgetting?

Practice Today

  1. Start a simple “What I’m Hearing” page in your journal.
  2. Record the Scripture, thought, or prompting without exaggerating certainty.
  3. Review older journal entries and notice where God has already been faithful to guide you.

Prayer

Lord, help me pay attention. Holy Spirit, bring truth to my remembrance and teach me to recognize patterns of Your guidance. Keep me humble and anchored in Scripture as I listen. Amen.
