Scripture “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” – James 2:17 Devotional Faith is not only something we say. Faith is something that responds. James teaches us that faith without works is dead, which means true faith will eventually show up in how we live, how we obey, how we speak, how we forgive, how we serve, and how we surrender. This does not mean we earn God’s love by our works. We are saved …
Scripture “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1 Devotional A strong house needs a strong foundation. The same is true of our faith. If our faith is built only on answered prayers, good days, people behaving well, or circumstances going our way, then we will be easily shaken when life gets hard. Biblical faith has a deeper foundation. It is built on who God is. It is built on …
Scripture “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:17 Devotional What we feed will grow. If we feed fear, fear grows. If we feed bitterness, bitterness grows. If we feed discouragement, discouragement grows. But when we feed faith with the Word of God, faith begins to rise. This is not just a nice saying. It is a spiritual reality. Many of us are trying to have strong faith while constantly consuming things …
Scripture “Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart… he shall have whatsoever he saith.” – Mark 11:23 Devotional Sometimes the mountain looks so big that it takes over our thoughts. We wake up thinking about it. We go to sleep thinking about it. We talk about it, worry about it, plan around it, and sometimes even start living as if it will always be …
Scripture “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7 Devotional Walking by faith sounds beautiful until God asks us to keep walking without the full picture. We like clarity. We like details. We like knowing how long it will take, how it will happen, and what the outcome will look like. But faith often requires movement before full understanding. Second Corinthians tells us that we walk by faith, not by sight. Notice it says walk. That …
Scripture “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:17 Devotional If faith comes by hearing the Word of God, then we have to be honest about what we have been hearing the most. What has been speaking into your heart lately? God’s Word, or your worries? Scripture, or fear? Truth, or every possible worst case scenario? Faith grows when we consistently put ourselves in position to hear from God. Not once in …
Scripture “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1 Devotional Faith is not just a feeling we have when everything is going well. It is not only present when we feel strong, excited, or encouraged. Real faith is often most visible when our feelings are tired, our circumstances are uncertain, and we still choose to trust God. Hebrews tells us that faith is substance and evidence. That means faith has …
Scripture “Have faith in God.” – Mark 11:22 Devotional Sister, we are beginning this month with the words of Jesus: have faith in God. That sounds simple, but it is the foundation for everything else we will talk about this month. Before we speak to mountains, before we pray bold prayers, before we stand in the fire, and before we walk into promises, our faith has to be anchored in the right place. Jesus did not say, “Have faith in …
Key Scripture:“Jesus replied, ‘Have faith in God. Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, “Go, throw yourself into the sea,” and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.’”— Mark 11:22–23 Faith is one of those words we hear often as believers, but sometimes we don’t slow down long enough to really ask ourselves: Do I truly understand what faith is? Am I walking by …
Key Scripture: Psalm 34:1 (NIV) I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. Devotional As we come to the end of this month, I find myself reflecting on how much broader worship is than many of us initially realize. At the beginning of June, we started by exploring what worship truly is. Along the way, we’ve talked about worship during battles, worship through disappointment, worship in grief, worship while waiting, worship through …
